Download the Colorado PDF (204 pages, 1,040 questions)
Every question comes with its correct letter, an explanation and the Colorado Revised Statutes or Division of Insurance regulation it rests on. Print the question pages, keep the key for later, or read the whole thing on a phone. These are original practice questions, not actual exam questions, written from the state and general content outlines in the Pearson VUE candidate handbook - and the handbook itself remains the authority on anything this file does not settle.
If you searched for Colorado life insurance exam questions and answers in PDF form, this is that file, and it also carries the health and the property and casualty material for the same state. The Colorado section of each Pearson VUE exam is a separate scored block (30 state questions on the life and health exams, 25 on property, 31 on casualty) and it is the block generic national guides leave out. The 44 Colorado-law questions in this PDF - 14 life, 14 health, 16 property and casualty - were written for that block, one statute or regulation per question, and are followed by the 996 national questions that make up the rest of the bank. No registration, no email, no watermark. Last updated September 2026.

| Colorado health law | 14 | Required accident and sickness provisions (notice, proof, claim forms, legal actions, grace by premium mode), state continuation, newborn and dependent-to-26 coverage, the 100-employee small-group definition, prompt pay, external review, market withdrawal, Medicare supplement free look |
| Colorado property and casualty law | 16 | Auto minimum limits, UM/UIM and med pay rejections, auto and homeowners cancellation and nonrenewal, additional living expense, the Insurance Guaranty Association, the FAIR Plan, workers' compensation employer definition and TTD benefits, named-driver exclusion, commercial nonrenewal, unreasonable delay or denial |
| National bank, all three lines | 996 | 306 life, 300 health and 390 property and casualty questions on the general portion of the exams |
| Total | 1,040 | 204 pages, cover and answer key included |
Order inside the file: a cover page with the verified exam facts, then the Colorado life, health and property and casualty questions, then the national questions line by line, and finally an answer key that repeats every question number with the correct letter, the reasoning and the citation. Because the state questions sit at the front, you can print roughly the first dozen pages and have the whole Colorado block in hand.
Colorado exam facts (verified July 2026)
Colorado licenses through Pearson VUE, and each exam is split into a general portion and a Colorado portion that are scored together on a scaled basis. Colorado does not publish the passing value.
| Exam | Questions | Time | Passing | Fee |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Life producer exam | General 50 scored + 5 pretest; State 30 scored + 5 pretest | 120 minutes | scaled score (passing value set by Division, not published) | $41 (covers up to two exams in one session) |
| Health producer exam | General 50 scored + 5 pretest; State 30 scored + 6 pretest | 120 minutes | scaled score (not published) | $41 |
| Property exam | Property exam: General 50+5, State 25+5 = 85 q; Casualty is a separate exam: General 50+5, State 31+5 = 91 q, also 120 min | 120 minutes | scaled score (not published) | $41 |
Two things in that table trip people up. First, Colorado tests Property and Casualty as separate exams, so the property and casualty line on this site mirrors the Property exam and the 16 Colorado questions serve both sittings. Second, the $41 fee covers up to two exams in one session, which is why many candidates schedule life and health, or property and casualty, back to back.
Prelicensing: at least 50 hours of an approved prelicensing course per line (life; sickness and accident; property/casualty), including at least 3 hours on insurance industry ethics (C.R.S. § 10-2-201); approved providers listed at sircon.com/colorado; exemptions for designations (CLU, CPCU, etc.). Confirm the current course requirement with the Colorado Division of Insurance before you enroll.

Sample Colorado questions with answers
One question from each Colorado section, reproduced exactly as it appears in the file and in the online mock exams.
Question 1 (Life). A Colorado insurer wants to let an annual-premium whole life policy lapse for nonpayment. Before the lapse takes effect, what written notice must it give the policy owner?
- A. None; the grace period itself is the notice
- B. At least 25 days' written notice before the effective date of lapse
- C. At least 10 days' notice by certified mail
- D. At least 60 days' notice to the owner and every beneficiary
Answer: B. At least 25 days' written notice before the effective date of lapse. C.R.S. § 10-7-105.5 requires written notice to the policy owner at least twenty-five days before the effective date of lapse, by first-class mail or by e-mail if the owner consented to electronic communication. A is wrong because the lapse notice is a separate statutory duty; C misstates both the period and the delivery method; D overstates the period and adds beneficiaries the statute does not mention. Note the requirement does not apply to policies with monthly or more frequent premiums. See C.R.S. § 10-7-105.5.
Question 2 (Health). A Colorado provider submits a clean claim electronically to a carrier on June 1. Under Colorado's prompt-pay statute, the carrier must pay or deny the claim by:
- A. June 15 (15 days)
- B. July 1 (30 calendar days); a paper claim would get 45 calendar days
- C. July 16 (45 calendar days) for all claims
- D. August 30 (90 calendar days)
Answer: B. July 1 (30 calendar days); a paper claim would get 45 calendar days. C.R.S. § 10-16-106.5 requires clean claims to be paid or denied within thirty calendar days after receipt if submitted electronically and within forty-five calendar days if submitted by mail, fax, or hand delivery, with a ninety-day outer limit for claims needing additional information. A is not a statutory period; C applies the paper period to electronic claims; D is the outer limit for non-clean claims. See C.R.S. § 10-16-106.5.
Question 3 (Property and casualty). A Colorado family's home is a total loss under a replacement-cost homeowners policy issued in 2026. Which additional-living-expense requirement does Colorado impose?
- A. ALE coverage of at least 12 months, and the insurer must have offered a 24-month option
- B. ALE limited to 6 months
- C. ALE of exactly 24 months in every policy
- D. ALE is optional and need not be offered
Answer: A. ALE coverage of at least 12 months, and the insurer must have offered a 24-month option. C.R.S. § 10-4-110.8 requires every homeowners replacement-cost dwelling policy to include additional living expense coverage of at least twelve months and requires insurers to offer a twenty-four-month option, with further extensions available after a declared wildfire disaster. B is below the minimum, C misreads the 24-month offer as mandatory in every policy, and D contradicts the requirement that ALE be included. See C.R.S. § 10-4-110.8.
Rules that changed recently
One property and casualty question tests a Colorado body that older study material does not mention at all, because it did not exist until recently:
- The Colorado FAIR Plan Association. Created by 2023 legislation as a nonprofit, unincorporated public entity whose members are the insurers authorized to write property insurance in Colorado, it provides property and commercial property coverage when the admitted market will not. Membership is a condition of an insurer's authority to transact insurance in the state, and expenses, income and losses are shared among members - C.R.S. § 10-4-1804.
Every Colorado question in the file carries a review date of September 28, 2026. When a cited section is amended, the question is rewritten, the file is regenerated, and the date at the top of this page moves.
How to study with this PDF
- Start with the Colorado block, not the national one. It is 44 questions and you can finish it in an evening, and it is the part of the exam a generic course leaves you least prepared for.
- Learn Colorado's notice periods as a set, because the state questions pit them against each other: 10 days for auto nonpayment, 30 days for auto cancellation and nonrenewal, 45 days for commercial nonrenewal, 60 days with reasons for homeowners, 25 days before a life policy lapses, 180 days before a carrier leaves a health market. The wrong options in the bank are almost always one of the other real Colorado figures.
- Keep the premium-mode rules straight on the health side - 7, 10 and 31-day grace periods - and the claim clock of 20 days notice, 15 days for forms, 90 days proof, 60 days before suit.
- Then take the timed Colorado mock for your line online: life, health or property and casualty. Each is built to the Colorado exam's question count and 120-minute limit, with the state questions mixed into the general ones the way Pearson VUE delivers them.
- Finish with the national portion of the file. It is the larger share of every Colorado exam, and the hub article explains how the three national banks are organised if you would rather work them as separate files.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a Colorado life insurance exam questions and answers PDF in this file?
Yes. The life section is the first thing in the PDF: 14 Colorado life-law questions on C.R.S. Title 10 (policy provisions, lapse notice, nonforfeiture, replacement Regulation 4-1-4, the Protection Association) followed by the 306 national life questions. Together they cover both portions of the Colorado life producer exam.
Are these the actual Colorado exam questions?
No. They are 1,040 original practice questions written against the Colorado and general content outlines in the Pearson VUE handbook. Pearson VUE does not release its questions, and any site claiming to sell or leak them is not selling what it claims.
Does the PDF cover the Colorado state portion of the exam?
That is the reason it exists. The 44 Colorado questions map to the state portion of each exam - 30 scored questions on life and health, 25 on property, 31 on casualty - and every one cites the Colorado Revised Statutes section or Division of Insurance regulation it tests.
Which Colorado exam does the property and casualty section prepare me for?
Both. Colorado runs Property and Casualty as separate exams, each with a Colorado portion. The 16 property and casualty questions cover auto, homeowners, commercial nonrenewal, the guaranty association, the FAIR Plan and workers' compensation, so they apply whichever exam you sit.
How current is the Colorado material?
The exam facts were verified in July 2026 from the April 2026 Colorado candidate handbook (#120600), and every Colorado question was reviewed on September 28, 2026. The date at the top of the page changes whenever the file is regenerated.
Do I have to register or give an email to download it?
No. The button at the top opens the 204-page file directly. Print it, save it, or read it on your phone; there is no signup, no email and no charge.
