Georgia state law on the exam: 30 of the 80 scored questions (24 general Georgia law + 6 accident-and-sickness-only)

  • Insurance Department and Commissioner: powers and duties, examination of records, investigations and hearings, penalties (O.C.G.A. 33-2, 33-6-6, 33-6-9)
  • Definitions: domestic, foreign and alien insurers; stock and mutual; certificates of authority; transacting insurance (33-3-1, 33-14-2, 33-3-2 to 33-3-30, 33-1-2)
  • Licensing of agents and counselors: responsibilities, maintenance, revocation and suspension, temporary and nonresident licenses (33-23-1 to 33-23-46; Reg. 120-2-3-.09 and .15)
  • Unfair trade practices: rebating, defamation, unfair discrimination, misrepresentation, twisting and churning, advertising, coercion, controlled business, unfair claims practices, fraud (33-6-4, 33-6-5, 33-6-30 to 33-6-35, 33-9-36, 33-24-7)
  • Reporting and disposition of premiums (33-23-35); the Georgia Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Association (33-38-1 to 33-38-10)
  • Accident and sickness only: individual and group policies (33-29, 33-30; Reg. 120-2-10 to 120-2-12), Medicare supplement (33-43; Reg. 120-2-8), long-term care and the LTC Partnership (33-42; Reg. 120-2-16)

Thirty of the eighty scored questions are Georgia law. The six accident-and-sickness-only items lean on the required policy provisions in Chapter 33-29, whose day counts differ from the NAIC uniform provisions in places (a 30-day grace period and ten working days for claim forms), which is exactly what the state-law questions on this page drill.

Preparing for the Georgia Life, Accident and Sickness COMBO?
